LAT Sells Recycler Classifieds Back To Target Media Partners

The Los Angeles Times Media Group, part of Tribune, has sold Recycler Classifieds to classifieds firm to Target Media Partners, for an undisclosed sum. Recycler is the publisher of four editions of free classified advertising paper and eleven weekly and bi-weekly photo ad and employment guides in Southern California, as well as operator of the Recycler.com website. LAT aid that this transaction will help “better focus our online and classified resources.” The Times and Recycler will continue their current online distribution relationship where Cars.com powers the automotive functionality on the Recycler.com site.

There is some history here: Target was formed in 1998 with the spin-off of the non-LA area publications of Recycler, concurrent with the acquisition of Recycler by the Times Mirror Company (now Tribune). So the original is back in the spin-off stable. More on the interesting history on Recycler here.
