I’m on the road today, having met Mari Silbey at a new coffee shop. Well, it’s new for me; Mari recommended it and it beats the pants out of the Starbucks that’s within sight. The Bear Rock Cafe in King of Prussia is easily four times the size of any local Starbucks, offers free WiFi for all and has a nice selection of coffees and light food. The fireplace and comfy chairs give it a nice touch too.
I also have to say how impressed I was with the Kohjinsha UMPC that Michael Connick showed me last night at dinner. I’m still not sold on an integrated keyboard for my own use but the Kohji’s keys were quite usable. If I had to guess, I’d say the keyboard was a tad smaller than the keys on the Fujitsu P1610. I’m sticking with a slate and my full-sized Bluetooth keyboard for now, but I was so impressed by the Kohji that I might look for a review unit. Maybe a few weeks of tapping on that little keyboard will change my mind. I also liked the many different hardware controls on the unit; I can’t think of anything that was left out! Thanks to Michael for sharing the device with me; clearly we’re like minded mobile-techers as we both ordered Shepherd’s Pie for dinner. ;)
