In what can only be a very smart move on their part Nokia has announced today their purchase of mapping giant NavTEQ. Even if you don’t know who NavTEQ is you probably are using their maps as they are used by Yahoo!, Google, Garmin and TomTom which makes them one of the biggest map suppliers around. This move by Nokia shows why I admire the company so much as they are constantly pushing the envelope and preparing themselves to be a mobile giant even bigger than they are now. I expect to see exciting things coming out of this merger and can’t wait.
