Neo Sports has announced that it will provide video on demand (VoD) and live streaming services on their website Neosports.tv, reports Business Standard. They intend to begin with the India-Australia ODI series, and priced as follows: Users need pay Rs 5 on a per event basis, and highlights of every half-an-hour will be available for Rs 30, a day pass will cost Rs 50 and a series pass (7ODI and 1 Twenty20) will be available for Rs 150. Consumers can also avail of all access services live streaming for Rs 100 per match.
I suppose “per event” means per per-ball (per-boundry/wicket?) streaming, which is rather high at Rs. 5. They’re targeting the office going audience, and Indiantelevision quotes CEO Sashi Kalathil as saying that they have seven or eight companies are interested in availing the service for their employees. Neo Sports has spent Rs. 20 million for setting up the website and infrastructure. Also, I wonder what companies like ESPN-STAR Sports (ESS) and Neo Sports are doing about cricket clips on YouTube – like this one of Yuvraj Singh hitting six sixes in an over (and received 1,032,506 views in just a week).
