Mobile Advertising: We’re Selling Out Inventory, Claim UK Ops

Some ad agencies and even the general public may be skeptical about the efficacy of mobile advertising, but portal operators are claiming that there is so much demand for mobile ads, they’ve sold out of inventory. NMA says Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) Live and ITV (LSE: ITV) are both in the process of creating more mobile content in order to have ad space to sell, and Screentonic, which manages ad inventory for Orange’s mobile portal, claims its network of premium mobile sites has been sold out for the last three months. Vodafone wants to build up its technology and automotive content (or at least in the kind of content that tech and auto heads would find interesting) — to cater to advertisers specifically from those sectors who are apparently looking for more space. ITV is also expanding its content offerings on mobile to boost traffic and inventory and looking for an mobile ad sales executive.

No mention of whether all that apparent demand is translating into more healthy revenues (and profits) in the medium.
