Novatel makes an adapter that lets you use ExpressCard devices in older PC Card slots. The XCA-3 is not a new product but since I recently switched to an ExpressCard EV-DO modem I haven’t been able to use EV-DO on the Fujitsu P1610. Today I ordered the Novatel adapter and when I get a chance to try it I’ll let you know how well it works. I switched from the PC Card Verizon modem to an ExpressCard format since it can be used in both the HP 2710p and the MacBook Pro, and it works well in both. This adapter will let me use it in any PC with a slot so I’ll be good no matter what device crosses Mobile Tech Manor. The adapter can be left in the PC Card slot of the PC all the time, even without the ExpressCard, effectively turning it into an ExpressCard slot. And I do so love my EV-DO. I am very impressed with the Verizon v740 ExpressCard modem too.
