India Adds 8.31 Million Wireless And 90,000 Broadband Subs In August

Teledensity in India increased to 21.20 percent, up from 20.52 percent in July 2007.
– Total wireless base was at 201.29 million, with 8.31 million wireless subscribers being added in August, up from 8.06 million in July.

Broadband
– Total broadband subscriber base is at 2.56 million, up by just 90,000 from 2.47 million at the end of July. We’re still a few hundred years (mild exaggeration) away from the governments target of 20 million subs.

Update: PTI adds that the Indian PC market has grown by 22.1 percent in Q2 of 2007 as compared to Q2 of 2006, with shipments of 1.53 million as per IDC. Of these, desktop shipments have grown by 11.3 percent, and notebooks by 73.1 percent.
