Fujitsu U810 reviewed, 6.9 / 10 from CNET

Fujitsuu810Sounds like the folks at CNET were duly impressed by the latest UMPC on the market, the Fujitsu U810. How impressed? This ought to tell you: "… for under $1,000, this is the best UMPC deal we’ve seen to date." Much of the focus is on the keyboard as expected; you won’t find any review thoughts or opinions on Tablet PC functionality here. CNET found the keyboard better than the ones found on the Samsung Q1 Ultra or Vulcan FlipStart, but there’s still a compromise. Many of the keys pull double-duty, which can be a minor inconvenience. The grueling DVD battery-drain test turned up 3.25 hours of battery life, so you should get better with surfing and other less intensive activity. CNET found the boot up time to be a painful two minutes, so you’ll want to take full advantage of Sleep mode in Vista. Not only will that save you time, but you’ll be saving the Earth at the same time.

There was one confusing part in the review as CNET seemed to struggle with their user requirements: "…we found the 5.6-inch screen to be too small for everyday use and a bittoo large for a portable Internet tool (perhaps the iPhone is bettersuited for that task)." As we often say here: you have to decide what your needs are when choosing a device and this quote highlights the reason why.
