I have to wonder if SSD prices are about ready to tumble. I was just checking to see if an integrated 3G radio was available yet for the Fujitsu P1610 (it’s not, at least in the U.S.) when I eye-spied a 32 GB SSD option for the Fuji. The availability didn’t surprise me, but the price of this option did: $299. Up to now, I’ve seen 32 GB flash drives in the $400 to $500 range, so this represents a solid price decrease; hopefully, other manufacturers will follow suit. Bear in mind that the 32 GB option drops the 80 GB drive that you’d already be paying for but… My suspicion is that we’re ready to see many more 64 GB SSD options busting out soon, so the lower capacity is starting to drop in price. I’m still holding out for a minimum of 64 GB at a reasonable price; I’m willing to pay a premium for faster data access and less power usage, but not by a factor of 100.
