When I ordered the HP 2710p last night from the HP web site it was strange that they wouldn’t indicate any estimated shipping date. Today I received a phone call from HP confirming that I had indeed placed the order, something that’s a nice touch to prevent fraud. I asked the rep what the estimated shipping date was for my order and he couldn’t access that information. This afternoon I received an order confirmation email from HP and oddly enough this didn’t indicate any kind of shipping date either.
In addition to the 2710p I ordered an ultra-slim battery and expansion dock and I was concerned that HP was not indicating any shipping date. I was beginning to suspect that everything was back-ordered so tonight I gave HP a call. Sure enough, the 2710p is back-ordered and they expect to get another 500 units in on 26Sep. The dock and battery are expected to be in on 30Sep. It sounds like they’ve been selling a lot of these units because when I first priced them less than a week ago they were showing shipping dates of 1-2 days. The guy I spoke with tonight was very nice and changed the order so that each item would ship as soon as it was available and not all at once because I don’t want the peripherals to hold up shipping the Tablet. He also waived the shipping charges since they did not inform me the items were back ordered. I like dealing with HP, they’ve always done things this way. Note: we are not affiliated with HP in any way.
