SK Telecom has teamed up with T-Systems to enter the mobile broadcasting market in Europe and Asia. T-Systems is a unit of Deutsche Telekom that provides IT and telecommunication services for business clients…it doesn’t directly offer telecom services but it would be hard to envisage T-Mobile choosing mobile TV services that don’t come from the unit. The size of the deal wasn’t announced, but a spokesperson for SK Telecom said “SK Telecom and T-Systems are planning to cooperate on a variety of mobile TV technologies,” reports Reuters. Obviously SKT has more experience with DMB, but it’s smart not to restrict itself to that considering the pressure in Europe in favor of DVB-H.
