We’ve seen 3G routers before, but most of ‘em required you to put your PC Card modem into the router. What if, like many of our recent poll respondents, you prefer a USB cellular modem? How about folks that USB tether a 3g phone?
CradlePoint’s CTR350 Travel Router might work for you. Plug your USB modem into the router and you can broadcast that cellular Internet connection via 802.11b/g to everyone within range. For your closest friends, there’s even a wired RJ-45 Ethernet jack; they’d have to be a close friend OR just have a really long stretch of CAT-5 cable. The $149 CTR350 weighs only four ounces so it travels light and it does support various wireless encryption methods like 64/128 bit WEP, WPA/WPA2, and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. An added bonus for the tether-ers out there: the device plugs into an electrical outlet so it will charge your connected handset while using it as a modem.
