Open Thread: Likes and Dislikes of Web Work

Printer manufacturer Lexmark recently conducted a poll asking professionals what they liked and disliked about working at home. On the plus side: flexible working hours, gas savings, greater productivity. On the down side: longer hours, lack of technology, isolation from co-workers. Not surprisingly, they seized on the “lack of technology I need” complaint to pitch their latest all-in-one devices.

But you know, a randomly-selected marketing pool can only give you one side of the story. You dedicated WWD readers have your own experiences, perhaps not so much with home work, but certainly with web work. So let’s throw it open to the audience: what do you like (and dislike) about web work? What keeps you getting up in the morning to stick with this new way of making a living? Or, alternatively, what makes you think seriously of chucking it all and going back to a “regular” job? The comments are open!
