TeaShark mobile browser tries to take a bite out of Opera Mini

Teashark_2The video demo of TeaShark looks an awful lot like Opera Mini to me, but you be the judge. Any Java MIDP 2.0 supported phone can use TeaShark, which encrypts and sends a mobile-phone friendly view of "the Internets" to your handset. Supported features include image optimization, browsing history, landscape screen rotation, quick zooming, URL prediction, text search, bookmark importing, RSS reading, ad blocking and more. The browser is listed in an Alpha stage, so be careful; while it looks stable in the video demo, you never know. While it looks and functions much like Opera Mini, it has a long way to go in terms of catching up to the large, established user base that Opera Mini enjoys. One glaring step behind for TeaShark: it’s not yet working on Palm or Blackberry devices.
