So I’m sitting in one of the comfy chairs at Starbucks very close to a table with four people, two sisters who look to be 12 or 13 and two oldsters in their 70s, I assume Grandma and Grandpa. I hear the following conversation, at least this is the gist of it:
#1 "Did you see Britney Spears on the MTV awards?"
#2 "No I missed it, what she any good?"
#3 "Well, other than being too fat for her outfit, the fact that she can’t dance anymore and that she forgot how to lip-sync she wasn’t too bad."
Laughter all around.
What brought my attention to this conversation was who the speakers were- Grandma was #1, one of the teens was #2, and Grandpa was #3. This made me realize that this was a really cool old couple, and probably even hipper than the young kids as Grandma then said:
"if you don’t believe how bad she was during her performance look at this."
Grandma then whipped out her iPhone and showed the kids the performance on YouTube. Now that’s just plain cool and probably a testament to the impact that the iPhone will have on our social structure. I hope I’m that cool when I’m really old. :)
