The ET reports that within five days of the launch of the National Do-Not-Call (NDNC) registry, over 5 million mobile users have registered to rid themselves of the menace of hounding telemarketers. The financial daily quotes unnamed industry experts as saying that the number of mobile users using the registry will cross the 10-crore mark by the end of this year. This would mean that close to 50 percent of India’s over-200 million cellphone subscribers will soon be out of bounds for telemarketers.
However, merely 13,000 of the 25,000 to 30,000 telemarketershave registered with the telecom service providers till date, according the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. [via Sify]
