Though the California heat isn’t letting up, we’ve turned the page on summer. With September comes NewTeeVee’s newest staff writer, Chris Albrecht. You’ll already be familiar with the top-notch work he submitted over the long weekend and yesterday.
Chris (pictured at left) comes to us from AtomFilms, where he wrote copy, acquired content, and editorially programmed the Web site. AtomFilms was bought last year by Viacom (VIA) for $200 million.
Watching video ’til his eyes bleed is old hat for Chris. In addition to his AtomFilms gig, Chris spent last month as co-programming director of the Palm Springs
International Festival of Short Films, a job that he said required him to watch some 500 films that were considered for inclusion.
Chris, who cut his editorial teeth at ZDNet’s AnchorDesk, graduated from the University of Washington with a Master of Communication in Digital Media, a professional degree that allowed him study to user-created fan films — one of his passions — through an academic lens.
Chris is also newly married and just adopted a dog.
In addition to bringing Chris on board, the gang here at NewTeeVee has a whole lot more planned for this fall. We’re going to be doing a New York City edition of the Pier Screenings live programs in the last week of September, and we’re planning a one-day conference — NewTeeVee Live — in San Francisco on Nov. 14. So please subscribe and come visit us often.
