Thomson, France-based digital media and electronics conglomerate. has bought Anaheim, CA-based content delivery network and digital media technology firm SynCast, for an undisclosed sum. Through its Technicolor services division, Thomson (NYSE: TOC) hopes to win more business from studios and distribution companies with this deal, reports WSJ. One SynCast client is Microsoft’s (NSDQ: MSFT) Xbox Live Video Marketplace, which has been delivering HD movies from some of the major studios. Its other clients include MPAA, Walmart Music, Lions Gate Films, EMI Music Group, Technicolor and Billboard Radio. The company was founded in 2000.
