This is interesting considering it’s fresh on the heels of James’ post regarding Vista on mobile devices. Surely you remember the hotly debated opinion piece titled "Vista will never run well on mobile devices". It was one of the top read posts from last week and it elicited a great set of discussion and commentary. I’m not suggesting that Samsung makes business decisions on what we write (although sometimes I wish they would), but yesterday morning they announced three new Q1 Ultra configurations: all of which run Windows XP.
There’s a unit with a 32 GB SSD drive, the Q1U-SSDXP that will retail for $1,649. The Q1U-XP and Q1U-ELXP will come in at $1149 and $999 respectively. The ELXP runs on the 600 MHz A110 CPU paired with a 40 GB drive, while the additional $150 of the Q1U-XP raises the CPU to 800 MHz and offers 50% more storage with a 60 GB drive. I’ve got some commentary and opinion of my own experiences on the Q1 as I’ve run both XP and Vista for quite some time on the mobile device. Stay tuned…
