That 17 year-old who hacked the iPhone to free it from the bindings of AT&T has traded his modified iPhone for a hot Nissan 350Z and 3 unmodified iPhones. A cell phone repair company in Kentucky, CertiCell, traded with George Hotz no doubt for promotional purposes to come. Hotz got the 3 iPhones in the deal to give to the 3 online collaborators who helped him hack the iPhone.
The 17-year-old Hotz said he will be sending the three new iPhones tothe three online collaborators who helped him divorce Apple Inc’spopular product from AT&T’s network. The job took 500 hours, orabout 8 hours a day since the iPhone’s June 29 launch.
While we all knew the iPhone would end up unlocked give Apple and AT&T credit that it took 500 hours to do so.
