Sunsilk Gang Of Girls Ties Up With Zoom, Oxford Book Store

Branded community site Sunsilk Gang of Girls has tied up with BCCL owned TV channel Zoom for a reality show called “Spotlight Mein“, reports Indiantelevision. Four contestants will be selected via online on the basis of online submits of audio or video clips, or CDs sent to Zoom. The four who are selected will then be groomed and mentored by people from the music and entertainment industry. Gang of Girls had earlier tied up with Radio One for a Chak De India contest. I just visited the site and noticed that, within the community, they’ve launched an online bookstore called Book Bar, in collaboration with the Oxford Book Store. The site must be a major expense for HUL, particularly given the TV promotions. I’m wondering if it sustains itself, or is still a cost center…

Also, I’m not sure of how involved group members are with this community (since I’m not on it :P), but I wouldn’t just look at number of subscribers or traffic for community sites: it’s about how involved one is with the community, and fans.
