A number of content providers have mentioned to me their frustration in dealing with a fragmented film industry in south India when it comes to video content. Things are a little more organized when it comes to the music business – while PPL handles Bollywood content, the South India Music Companies Association (SIMCA) mandates the usage of south Indian music content…though it’s been said that SIMCA’s decisions are rather ad-hoc. Now, G. Dhananjayan, COO of Moser Baer’s entertainment business appears to have spoken up about the Tamil film industry, saying that it does now allow movies to be released at DVDs until three years after their release, reports the Hindu. There are exceptions, though few. The company appears to have had better luck with the Hindi and the Malayalam film industry.
