Since Scoobie posted this over at the Origami Project forums, I think it’s really a question for UMPC owners to answer. He’s got the details of what he’s looking for over on the thread he started, so if you have a minute (or two or three, depending on your machine), give Vista a cold boot and time it based on his requirements, would ya?
His OQO Model 02 is usable in 1 minute and 50 seconds. I just tested this on my Samsung Q1P with 2 GB of RAM and was able to run an app in 1 minute and 23.4 seconds. Unlike some of the commenters in the thread who vote for Hibernation as a better option than booting, I use Sleep mode as often as possibe. I only shut down my UMPC when I absolutely have to because Sleep gets me working in seconds.
