Hutchison Whampoa has released its earnings for the six months ending June 30th. Total revenue for the group increased by 14 percent to HK$141,523 million (US$18,119 million), and while the telco business made a loss of HK$11,324 million (US$1,450 million), 6 percent lower year-on-year, the established businesses made a profit of HK$20,869 million (US$2,672 million). Across the 3 telecommunications business ARPU on a trailing 12-month average fell by 2 percent to 44.74 euros (US$60.69), due to regulatory changes in Italy which offset increases elsewhere. 3 Group’s non-voice revenue was 30 percent of total ARPU, an increase of 2 percent year-on-year. As I’ve noted, 3 Italia claims 719,000 DVB-H users, almost 10 percent of the Italian subscriber base (which is by far the largest of the 3 Group).
