August Pier Screenings: Meet the Judges

kara.jpgThe final NewTeeVee Pier Screening of the summer in San Francisco is just a week away. We’ve got a great line-up of speakers, judges, and videos coming together, so don’t forget to RSVP. Come join us outdoors on the pier to see Web video bask in the glow of the projector, the buzz of the live audience, and the warmth of our toasty heat lamps.

jd.jpgToday we’re excited to announce our judges: Kara Swisher, columnist at the The Wall Street Journal’s AllThingsD and an up-and-coming videoblogger; citizen media guru JD Lasica; and documentary maker Michael Ferris Gibson, who made 24 Hours on Craigslist.

michael.jpgThe topic this month is citizen news — we’ll be talking about the ability of anyone to use video to tell true stories. Look for another post later this week about our guest speakers. And don’t forget to go give your favorite contenders five out of five stars (or however many they deserve) over on our screenings community site. The six most highly rated clips will be shown next Wednesday. Don’t forget; that’s Wednesday, Aug. 29.
