Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM) is considering forming a joint venture with Taiwanese companies for a MediaFLO service in the country, reports DigiTimes Telecom.”A market research conducted by Qualcomm in Taiwan indicated that more than 80 percent of respondents expressed that they are willing to pay a fee of NT$200-325 (US$6-10) a month to receive up to 20 channels of mobile TV programs”. The Taiwan government has issued four mobile TV licenses, one of which was for MediaFLO — the others for DVB-H. Qualcomm has also formed a JV with KDDI in Japan to test MediaFLO.
