One handy feature in Vista is the thumbnail view of apps running on the Taskbar. Simply hover over a running app in the Taskbar and Vista provides a real-time pop-up thumbnail view of the application window. It’s a fantastic time saver for multi-taskers and especially useful for smaller screened UMPCs where display real estate is limited.
XP users might want to try the free Visual Task Tips application. This 90 Kb app offers similar functionality: just hover over an open app in the XP Taskbar and you’ll get a quick thumbnail view of the application window. It might not have all the bells and whistles of the Vista functionality, but it could save you a few minutes here and there during the day.
