UK-based SpinVox, which has a speech-to-text-message service, has signed a deal with US carrier Alltel which will see the carrier offer the service to its 12 million customers. It’s the first major deal for SpinVox (it also has one with Cincinnati Bell), but it said it’s in talks with one of the big 4 US telcos. One of the main effects of this is that SpinVox is now looking at a possible IPO. It looked at floating last year but couldn’t attract enough interest so it opted for another funding round which saw it valued at 65 million pounds (US$130 million), but with more deals like the one with Alltel lined up the company may have another go, probably in early 2008.
