VC Roundup: Sequoia Capital India III – $280 Million; Clearstone – $400 Million

– Sequoia Capital India has nearly finished raising capital for a $280 million fund for early stage investing, reports SiliconValley.com. The fund – called Sequoia Capital India III – has so far raised $264.5 million, as per a regulatory filing from August 2 which was first reported in VentureWire.

— Clearstone Venture Partners is planning to raise $400 million global fund for investment in early 2008, of which around a third is likely to be invested in India, reports ET. So far, Clearstone has invested in Billdesk, Games2win and handset solutions company Digibee Microsystems. Clearstone intends to expand India ops 3-4 individuals.
