A hundred bars across New York, Los Angeles and Chicago will get Bluetooth technology added to the advertising in the bars. Zoom Media & Marketing have partnered with Bluetooth-guys Kameleon for this, and the plan is to offer free ad-related content like video trailers, music tracks, movie previews, sports clips and coupons over Bluetooth to complement the in-bar campaigns, reports MediaWeek. It’s unclear how the patrons are notified of the existence of the free content — if it involves automatically pinging Bluetooth handsets within range it’ll get accused of bluespamming.
