In-text ad provider Kontera has secured $10.3 million in its second round funding. The financing was provided by Carmel Ventures with participation by previous backers Sequoia Capital and Lehman Brothers and will be used to support sales, marketing and R&D operations. Kontera’s main product is ContentLink, which taps into certain keywords on a webpage and automatically turns them into a link to an ad from one of Kontera’s clients. The San Francisco- and Israel-based ad system, which has sometimes been denounced by some web users as a particularly intrusive format, raised $7 million in its first round last year. Release.
