This 13.3-inch magnesium aluminum allow notebook from Asus looks fairly fashionable in glossy black with leather palm rest. Truth be told, I’m a little shocked. I like the company as much as the next mobile tech’r but I wouldn’t call their computing designs extremely elegant up to now. Not a slight and of course, it’s just my opinion: I think of them for their practical functionality than their style. This new U3 notebook is changing my mind a little.
Aside from looking good for around $2,000, it packs a Santa Rosa platform with Intel 2 Duo and up to 2.5 GB of memory; could there be 512 MB of integrated RAM with a config like that? This Vista portable also offers 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR and optional integrated 1.3-megapixel camera. An nVIDIA GPU powers the graphics and unit weighs 1.75 Kg, or under four pounds with the standard 3-cell battery. That power pack seems light to me for any computing over two hours, but Asus indicates some type of Power Savings technology that can save up to 50% of battery life than when not using it.
