Honestly, I’m quite happy with my default desktop search tools, so I almost skipped over today’s freebie at Giveaway of the Day. Gaviri PocketSearch is on the menu and upon first glance, it looked like just another desktop search tool. Then I started reading about the software and my interest level rose a bit. PocketSearch isn’t just a search tool for a single Windows Desktop, it’s portable and it searches across all of your Windows and Windows Mobile / Pocket PC connected devices.
On each of your devices a PocketSearch index will be built, so when you search from any one device, all devices are searched. Additionally, you can install the program on a flash drive to make it portable across your devices in case they’re not tethered at the time. You can install the app on Windows NT, 2000, XP and all flavors of Vista plus there’s the support for Pocket PC 2003/2005. The company is working on a version for Linux / Mac, and I hope they update the handheld support to Windows Mobile 5 & 6 as well. It’s free for today only, so take a look at it and be sure to register before midnight if you like it.
