Social net collaboration software developer Passenger has raised $8.3 million in a second round financing led by The Walt Disney Company’s Steamboat Ventures. About $2.5 million came from Shelter Capital Partners. Last summer, Shelter Capital provided $1.5 million when it led Passenger’s $1.8 million first round, The latest round, which also included participation by StarVest Partners, will bring Passenger’s total funding to about $12.5 million. The LA-based company bills itself as a “software-as-a-service” provider that lets brands and customers collaborate within the context of a private online community. Passenger plans to use the funding to build up its sales and product development efforts. It also plans to open up a New York office. Release
