The Korean market has a new UMPC entry: the Wibrain. This Via-powered unit will run the 1.6GHz C7-M CPU and offers a 4.8-inch touchscreen at 1024 x 600. That res is a "wi" bit high for my eyes on this screen size, but this ought to keep the Lenscrafters chain in business. The Wibrain also offers a split QWERTY keypad, directional pie plate wheel, mouse buttons, and touchpad. Speaking of the keypad, I hope the final product keeps the letters on the keys better: I did a double-take when I saw them as I thought it was a non-QWERTY configuration. Turns out that some of the letters on the left side had rubbed off. ;)
AVING shows off many more pics of this new device and highlights features such as the flip out web-cam, stylus garage on the back and, hey, is that a second webcam in the derrière? We’ll see next month when the product is officially announced along with the the $650 expected price.
