NewTeeVee Events

NewTeeVee’s Pier Screenings will be at the Metreon in San Francisco Tuesday evening. This month we’re honoring content creators trying to make this pay. Enter, vote, attend!

ticket_july_24.gifThe Digital Video Expo East for 2007 kicks off today at the Westin New York in Manhattan’s Times Square. The show floor is free, so go drool over the latest in gear and try to figure out how much room you can wrangle on your credit cards.

Saturday features events across the country. The one I wish I could attend would be “This is Lo-Fi St. Louis” featuring Bill Streeter at the annual Cinema St. Louis showcase running through Thursday at the Centene Center for Arts & Education.

RGV New Media is hosting a get-together at Moonbeans Coffee in McAllen, Texas for Rio Grande Valley mediamakers to discuss opportunities online — en Inglés y Español. The official meeting is the 21st, but thanks to a minor mix-up, if you can’t make that one, another will be held on the 23rd.

And while the level of hucksterism for this VM Direct presentation is through the roof, I’ve always had a soft spot for infomericals. So if you’re into direct marketing online and around the Chicagoland area Saturday, drop by to “join the digital revolution.”

Monster Cable is inviting bloggers — and only bloggers — to a presentation from industry execs about opportunities in High Definition video. Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Mission Bay’s Entertaining Spaces.

Wednesday at 6:30 in Fremont, California, Silicon Valley Web Builder is having Adobe present tips on video workflow using its new CS3 bundle including Premier, After Effects and Flash. Free online registration, $10 at the door.

And next Friday, The Upgrade! Vancouver is hosting a night of “P2P” outdoor screenings of art flicks from online filmmakers. The night will feature shorts from primarily Scottish artists with contact information in the hopes of building bridges between the two scenes across the pond.
