Friday Vid Picks: Harry Potter

At 12:01 a.m. on Saturday the last in the Harry Potter heptalogy will be released. And it looks like they might catch the guy who supposedly leaked the latest Harry Potter installment online. I for one am planning on reading Deathly Hallows with the sweet 3D glasses I stole from “Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix: An IMAX 3D Experience.” That way the words will be a 3D experience!

Where your sock-puppet shows for mom and dad got you embarrassing photo opps, Neil Cicierega’s shows have garnered well over 10 million views. Make sure to check out “Wizard Angst.”

While none of it is embeddable, I highly encourage you Potter-heads to check out Borders HPTV. Yes, that’s a play on letters where “HP” stands for “Harry Potter!” Yay internets! The “Borders Riverside Quidditch Classic” is especially horrifying heartwarming.

Sirius Black Rap รก la “Baby’s Got Back”

Sir Mixalot has gone biblical , theatrical, lounge lizard, white-boy acoustic, and now magical.

“Potions Yesterday” by Draco and the Malfoys

Yes, there’s an indie rock band called Draco and the Malfoys. Oh, and don’t forget their archenemies Harry and the Potters and their new single “Voldemort Can’t Stop the Rock” complete with screaming groupies. And if you were afraid that Draco and the Malfoys were a one “hit” wonder check out their tour schedule.

South Park & Harry Potter (NSFW)

If Cartman went to Hogwarts he’d definitely be Slytherin.

Lily Potter: Gorecki

“They say when you are about to die you see your whole life, and that is what happened to Lily Potter.” Chronicling the life of Harry’s late mother, the video follows the red-headed witch’s life from childhood, through Hogwarts, and on to a short-lived Hollywood. RedJackett specializes in re-fashioning films into new romantic music videos and this is a pretty impressive bit of editing. As sung by The Verve, Draco and Hermione’s love is quite touching.

Harry Potter Intervention

It’s creepy and it’s kooky, and the guy with a beard is a bit intense, but it’s also got a hint of Rod Serling with the off-beat ending and suited doctor.

Welcome Back, Potter

Hat tip to Kara Swisher at BoomTown for this one.
