Industry Moves Roundup: AOL-Ted Cahall; Atlantic Media; WB Asia; Tivo Interim CFO; SPTI President

– AOL has appointed Ted Cahall to lead AOL Technologies, working to improve AOL’s tech infrastructure. He succeeds Balan Nair in this position. Cahall will also continue to lead the Platforms business unit, overseeing AOL Search, MapQuest, e-commerce, and publishing platform and tools, reporting to AOL President and COO, Ron Grant. — Justin B. Smith is stepping down as president of Dennis Publishing’s The Week magazine to become president-consumer media, a newly created position, at the Atlantic Media Co. Smith will assume responsibility for the Atlantic Monthly, TheAtlantic.com, Atlantic Live, 02138 magazine and its web site at 02138mag.com. He will also be looking to grow Atlantic Media’s consumer portfolio through new product introductions and acquisitions.

— Longtime Warner Bros. Entertainment executive Greg Robertson has been promoted to SVP and MD, Asia Pacific, for Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. He will oversee the sale of television series, theatrical motion pictures, movies for TV and animation to free and pay TV operators over terrestrial, cable, satellite and IPTV platforms. He also oversees the licensing of those titles for both current and previously produced content from the WaBo library to new-media clients in the areas of ad-supported VOD and subscription VOD.

— TiVo has retained Cal Hoagland as interim CFO, according to an SEC filing. Hoagland replaces Steve Sordello, who resigned in late June to join LinkedIn. TiVo said it has retained a search firm to identify a permanent CFO.

— Production veteran Sander Schwartz was named president, international production at Sony Pictures Television International. SPTI is the division of Sony Pictures Entertainment that is responsible for all television, mobile and digital distribution businesses outside of the U.S.
