Metalink Plots China Wireless HDTV

Israeli fabless chip company Metalink has been wedging its way into China’s wireless digital home market for awhile now — looking to get its wireless chip into gear like wireless TVs, set-top boxes, DVRs and residential gateways. The company has another announcement on that front this morning with Chinese technology standard group IGRS on an HDTV decoder platform for wireless home networks.

The release says that more than 84 percent of all television sets sold in China are from TV makers that are members of IGRS, so that seems like a pretty significant deal. We checked out a demo of Metalink’s streaming wireless HDTV last year — slick stuff.
