ITV, the UK’s biggest commercial broadcaster, today reported that revenues at its flagship terrestrial channel, ITV 1, were down yet again: 9 percent in the first half of this year.
However, revenues at ITV’s social networking site, FriendsReunited, increased 25 percent over the year before; and the relaunch of the broadcaster’s web site, ITV.com, is on track, the company says. (ITV has plans to roll out live streaming, a catch-up viewing service and other functions across all its channels over the course of the summer. In January it hired Annelies van den Belt, formerly head of digital at the Daily Telegraph and the Times Online, to oversee its broadband and online initiatives.) More details here in the earnings release.
