The two smaller mobile operators in Singapore, M1 and Starhub, have announced plans to share MeTV, the user-generated video sharing service run by M1 reports Cellular News. There are a number of reasons given, such as increasing content choices, but the real reason is probably in this comment by Neil Montefiore, Chief Executive Officer of M1: “The availability of the service to the enlarged customer base will generate a critical mass of shared interest and experience which could encourage even more usage and trial among users and their peers.” M1 has about a million mobile users, 50,000 of which have signed up to MeTV since it launched in January…offering the service to Starhub’s roughly 1.6 million users will hopefully at least double the number of people using it, and create the critical mass necessary for social sites to take off.
