Logitech QuickCam updates: Zeiss optics, autofocus, higher resolution

Logitech_quickcam_9000_for_notebookWhen not using an iSight camera on the MBP, I’ve got a Logitech QuickCam watching my every move. It’s actually quite scary to see the little blue light on, causing me to wonder if I actually turned the darn thing on or not. Anyway, I’ve been more than happy with the performance, but Logitech won’t just settle for that. No, they had to bump up the QuickCam line with a few new lusty features. For starters, they’ve added Carl Zeiss optics, which by itself should bring a noticeable increase in picture quality. Partner that with autofocus functionality and CMOS sensor boost from 1.3- to 2-megapixels and now I’m thinking "upgrade time!". Hey, 640 x 480 seems like analog television to me when compared to 960 x 720 at 30 fps. ;)

You can take your pick of upgrades: both the QuickCam Pro 9000 and the more mobile QuickCam Pro for Notebooks (shown) have a suggested price of $99 when they hit retailers in the U.S. and Europe this month.
