Industry Moves: Microsoft Appoints Analyst As Hollywood Content Team Head

Microsoft is trying to build the Hollywood content bridge again, after a softening of efforts over the last couple of years: it has hired media and entertainment analyst Kathy Styponias, to lead the business development content team as GM, media and entertainment group.

Styponias worked for the past 12 years as the senior cable, entertainment and satellite equity analyst at Prudential Securities…she left several weeks ago when the firm shuttered its research division. She reports to Blair Westlake, corporate VP in charge of the group. She will lead a team acquiring content for Microsoft’s digital media services, including Xbox Live and Zune. And yes, they desperately need it.
