Palm Foleo gets a VPN client from Bluefire

Palm_foleoI truly think the success of the Palm Foleo is directly tied to third-party applications. Without ‘em, you don’t have much more than an external display and keyboard for your smartphone, which isn’t enough of a value-add for $599 in my opinion. Bluefire is among the first to offer support for the Foleo with their Bluefire Mobile Security VPN application. The press release covers all of the security details:

"The award-winning Bluefire Mobile Security(R) VPN provides anIPsec-compliant secure connection for data-in-transit. It is certifiedthrough the RSA Secured(R) Partner Program with RSA SecurID(R), leadingtwo-factor authentication technology from RSA, The Security Division ofEMC. Bluefire’s VPN is compliant with Federal Information ProcessingStandards 140-2 (FIPS 140-2) and operates seamlessly across Wi-Fi, LAN,and cellular networks with no user intervention required."

Now at least you’ll have a secure connection for that big screen. :) Joking aside, it will be interesting to see if Foleo apps are more enterprise-directed than consumer focused. My gut says yes.
