Topix, the online news aggregator majority owned by the three big newspaper chains, has done a management shakeup: founder and current CEO Rich Skrenta is being replaced by Chris Tolles, till now the VP of marketing and also a founder. Skrenta will continue to serve on the Topix board and as an advisor to the company.
Recently the company jointly majority-owned by Gannett, Tribune and McClatchy, migrated the site from the .net domain to Topix.com, and relaunched it as a citizen-journalism news site, with news search as part of it.
Updated: on the company blog, Tolles explains the changes.
