Another day brings us another Lenovo X61 review: this time it’s LAPTOP Magazine with the Lenovo X61s, which is the notebook version of the X61 Tablet. Or maybe the X61 is the Tablet version of the X61s: you be the judge. In any case, Lappy Mag appears just as impressed as everyone else with this light and powerful series, giving it four out of five stars. Surprising to me was some disappointment in the WiFi throughput:
"The only disappointment was theX61s’ Wi-Fi performance. Throughput from both 15 feet (8.4 Mbps) and 50feet (7.1 Mbps) for our access point was below average, especially fora notebook with an 802.11n connection. Other Core 2 Duo laptops we’verecently tested, like the ThinkPad R61-14w, clock in above 17 Mbps."
I haven’t read any other 802.11n throughput issues on the X61 series, so perhaps this was something specific to their test environment or a firmware version issue…hard to say. I’ll be meeting up with some Lenovo folks later this week and will ask about this for sure. Oh and I’ll also ask why everyone ELSE is getting these nice X61 review units…c’mon Lenovo, where’s the luvin’ for folks that enjoy doing Tablet PC video reviews? ;)
