This is more like a four-minute marketing Q&A than a conversational podcast and after listening to it, I don’t think it changes my initial impressions of the Foleo at all. From where I stand the product is for a niche market within a niche market: it’s for smartphone owners that don’t want or need a laptop with them all the time. It’s a safe bet that not all, but a majority of smartphone owners do use a laptop or desktop computer with their smartphone, so why another device?
Jeff Hawkins feels that people want simplicity and I don’t argue that point. However, adding another device to the mix at such a high price when compared to more capable lightweight laptops just doesn’t seem like a big seller to me: any advantages simply don’t outweigh the cost nor the need to carry another device IMO. Give the podcast a listen and see if your stance has changed on the Foleo. Perhaps I’m missing the change in device category that the Foleo is trying to develop?
