Some significant organizational changes at Disney-ABC Worldwide Television, Disney Media Networks and ESPN …

TV distribution: The impending retirement of Laurie Younger, president, Disney-ABC Worldwide Television, leads to the creations of a Global Television Distribution unit combining several distribution efforts for Disney’s broadast and cable nets. Ben Pyne has been promoted to president-global distribution, Disney-ABC Worldwide Television & Disney Media Networks, reporting to Anne Sweeney and Alan Bergman, president, The Walt Disney Studios; previously, he was president-Disney & ESPN Networks Affiliate Sales and Marketing. When it comes to ESPN domestic, Pyne will continue to report to Sean Bratches, EVP-sales and marketing, ESPN and ABC Sports. He’ll also work with Andy Bird, president-Walt Disney International. Pyne’s actual responsibilities are as broad as his reporting structure. At its most basic, he assumes “chief responsibility for the International distribution and sales of the far-reaching portfolio of entertainment and news content.” That covers distribution to all platforms –including broadband and VOD.
