Verizon To Announce Deal With Obopay

Mobile payment company Obopay will get a boost with a deal with Verizon to make the payment application through Verizon’s mobile store or the mobile web service, reports the WSJ. Of course, anyone can sign up with Obopay, so this has more of a promotional benefit than anything although Obopay eventually hopes to integrate the service with the carrier’s billing, so customers don’t need to preload the account from a credit card or bank account. It’s not the first telco deal for Obopay, which had/has a deal with Amp’d; It also has a deal with Time Warner AOL to link with the AIM messenger service. There’s a lot of companies bringing out mobile payment solutions, both start-ups and established companies like Mastercard, and Obopay seems to be doing well in the strong competition.
