Orange Gives Up On Its Instant Messenger Service, Replaces With Windows Live Messenger

French telco Orange has announced plans to drop its Orange Messenger, with plans to replace it with Orange Messanger by Windows Live…effectively mobile Windows Live Messenger. “Orange Messenger by Windows Live rests on the one hand on a PC software, derived from Windows Live Messenger and equipped with the Orange colors, and on the other hand on a software java developed by Miyowa, for mobile telephones and smartphones” according to this Google translation of French site Mobinaute. It seems people weren’t interested in using an instant messaging service that relied on all their contacts being on Orange mobile, they’d rather use a common system that everyone has access to.
